About the Role
Head Janitor – the Head Janitor will assist and support the Janitorial Supervisor/Maintenance Supervisor to deliver a comprehensive service to our client. The role involves organising and supervising day‑to‑day use of the school to ensure compliance with contractual requirements while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and customer care.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure a high standard of service delivery within the establishment.
* Act as first point of contact for premises users’ queries.
* Coordinate Janitorial reactive work to meet SLAs and Company Policy.
* Supervise Janitorial PPM and IMS T2 procedures in compliance with policy.
* Provide monthly reports to the Janitorial Supervisor.
* Inspect sub‑contractor quality and report issues.
* Secure premises – open and secure buildings, check windows/doors, monitor CCTV, operate security systems, cover intruder/fire alarms and out‑of‑hours lets.
* Maintain indoor/outdoor areas – keep litter free, manage waste bins, carry out emergency cleaning, perform maintenance actions as per the PPM schedule (joinery, plumbing, electrical, painting).
* Ensure site documentation and induction procedures are followed.
* Undertake energy monitoring and other activities as outlined by the Janitorial Supervisor.
* Support other posts as required by changing workload and patterns of working.
Skills & Knowledge
* Minimum 3 years relevant experience in FM or Janitorial services.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Strong customer‑facing skills.
* Proactive, flexible team player capable of reacting under pressure.
* Attention to detail, computer literate and capable of managing staff.
* Contractual knowledge and IMS T2 knowledge.
* Ability to prioritise.
