The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering basic/routine planned building services maintenance and repairs across NHS premises, ensuring buildings are maintained to high standards and providing a safe environment for visitors, customers, and employees.
Main duties of the job
Ensure compliance with all processes, procedures, and policies, including Health & Safety Policy, HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda), or SFG20. Carry out and complete basic/routine maintenance activities as instructed, such as building fabric, monthly PPM tasks, plumbing, drainage, joinery, and decoration repairs. Maintain effective site log books at NHS premises, ensuring they are completed accurately and timely. Complete risk assessments prior to undertaking works, in line with relevant permits or work plans.

Job responsibilities
We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant at Woking Community Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. The role covers Woking and Surrey. Salary starts from £24,000, depending on experience.
Requirements include:
* Proven experience in a building trade or maintenance/caretaker role.
* Driving license is essential.
* Comfortable using technological devices for logging jobs.
* Desirable: industry experience, ability to work independently and as part of a team, DBS and DVLA checks required.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with NHSPS health, safety, and wellbeing policies, technical guidance, and statutory regulations.
* Deliver scheduled, reactive, and remedial maintenance as directed, including basic tasks like building fabric, plumbing, drainage, joinery, and decoration.
* Maintain site log books accurately and timely.
* Conduct risk assessments before work.
* Understand fire risk assessment principles and precautions.
