Cambridgeshire Community Services have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Lead to join our community-based Paediatric Audiology team.
We are looking for an ambitious individual with significant expertise in paediatric audiology who wants to work as part of our small, dedicated and widely-skilled team.
Clinical Leadership and management skills will be essential as you will be leading this department with a focus on maintaining clinical excellence.
You'll gain significant experience working as a key member of the wider system with regular interactions with NHSE and the ICB. You will be a local driver, supporting momentum and implementation of IQIPS accreditation for the department and wider system. This includes the opportunity to redesign local pathways with our acute and tertiary Trusts.
There is an excellent training opportunity for clinical scientific leadership development including access to the Trust’s highly successful Chrysalis Leadership Development programme and the national HTS competency log book in Audiology.
As the Clinical Lead, you will be supporting continuous improvement through clinical supervision, peer review and clinical audit programmes to shape the way in which we develop as a department and across the Trust.
You will be able to maintain clinical expertise through highly specialist clinics.
The Clinical Lead for Paediatric Audiology plays a vital role in maintaining and developing safe audiological services for babies, Children and Young People within Cambridge City, South and East Cambridgeshire.
The Clinical Lead acts as an experienced, specialist professional, responsible for delivering effective clinical supervision, leadership and service development.
The post holder will be working alongside national and regional networks, developing good working relationships across the system and partner services to achieve best practice.
The Clinical Lead will autonomously run and maintain their own clinical workload, including audiology diagnostic clinics for infants, children and young people.

Responsibilities
To clinically participate in a comprehensive community service focused on assessing infant and children's hearing and supporting those with a known hearing loss. This includes complex cases, requiring specialist skills and knowledge, working at a senior level.
To develop and manage the Community Paediatric Audiology Service, including line management responsibility for the team, clinical leadership, strategic planning and operational service delivery and performance.
To initiate and participate in audit and service development projects (complete IQIPS accreditations) contributing to policy development.
To act as an expert resource for both staff and children including those with special needs and complex requirements.
To oversee the Paediatric Audiology Service’s quality and governance program including planning, developing and implementing the service’s training and clinical supervision programs.
To collaborate with the Head of Service and Community Paediatric Clinical Lead to develop and extend the service’s present scope of practice.
Managerial and Clinical Leadership

Responsibility for the delivery of the paediatric diagnostic service. To autonomously undertake specialist, highly complex, and advanced activities, including infant hearing assessment including VRA.
To lead developments in clinical effectiveness, including the delivery of the paediatric community service, including formulation of clinical audit and individual care plans.
To undertake specialist and highly complex activities, including testing of children and infants with complex need using best‑practice techniques.
To accurately interpret and report on routine, advanced, and specialist tests, assessments, and investigations to relevant professionals.
To participate in the provision of specialist Audiology training, competency assessment and support further learning of staff.
To participate in departmental and wider audit for purposes of monitoring, development and outcome evaluation.
To maintain Departmental records including use of Smart4Hearing and SystmOne (all‑level administrative access).
To contribute to policy development, review and implementation including producing policy documents and operating procedures.
To investigate national and international paediatric audiology‑related developments with a view to incorporating updates and best and evidenced based practice into local policy and/or practice.
To liaise with professionals from other disciplines and related organisations and work in close collaboration with Cambridgeshire Community paediatrics.
To represent the Community Audiology Service as required at meetings, forums, network groups, etc.
Maintain a personal record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the format required by the regulatory professional body.
To maintain an understanding of changes and new developments in audiological standards of practice.
To develop and implement effective Peer Review processes.
To prepare comprehensive reports including data analysis at a high standard. To support the Head of Service and Community Paediatric Clinical Lead in developing and acting upon departmental service development plans. Meeting deadlines and ensuring that challenges are worked through dynamically.
