We provide professional services of school placement, tutoring as well as guardianship, and each year JD Consultancy assists many students joining the very top independent schools based in the UK.
With the fast expansion of the business, JD Consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Curriculum Developer & Academic Dean to join our team. This dual role will focus on designing, developing, and overseeing high-quality academic programmes (KS1–KS5) while also providing academic leadership within our organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Resource Development
* Design, develop, and update high-quality teaching materials and assessment resources, with a particular focus on English and Humanities (7+– 13+).
* Ensure all teaching resources are fully aligned with the UK National Curriculum and independent school entrance requirements.
* Create structured schemes of work, exam preparation guides, and enrichment materials tailored to specific age groups.
* Regularly review and update curriculum content to reflect current educational standards and evolving student needs.
Academic Leadership & Team Management
* Serve as a leader within our tutoring department, liaising with partner schools to expand the reach and impact of our programs.
* Oversee the academic management of the entire tutoring department, ensuring rigorous curriculum development, high-quality teaching, and effective student support.
* Manage staff recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance reviews.
* Provide academic training, mentoring, and guidance for tutors to maintain consistent teaching standards.
* Lead the planning, scheduling, and quality assurance of our weekend offline courses, ensuring smooth operations.
* Work closely with consultants and parents to ensure that academic programmes align with students' application goals.
Requirements
* Strong academic background with a degree in English, Humanities, or Education (PGCE or Master's preferred).
* Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, ideally in UK independent or international schools.
* Proven track record of creating engaging and well-structured learning resources.
* Demonstrable expertise in curriculum development, especially for English and Humanities (7+–13+).
* Familiarity with UK independent school entrance exams, including different formats, exam boards and points of entry (7+, 8+, 11+, 13+).
* Experience in academic leadership, staff management, and training delivery.
* Experience working with international students and parents.
* Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
* Passion for education and commitment to helping students achieve outstanding results in entrance exams and gain places at top UK independent schools.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams and encourage excellence within the tutoring department.
