About Horizonscan
Horizonscan specialises in resilience, crisis management, risk management, and business continuity helping organisations prepare for, respond to, and thrive through disruption. We are proud to be employee-owned, meaning every team member shares in our impact and success. Our purpose is simple “To make organisations more resilient and help them thrive.”
As we continue to grow, we are expanding our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) services to complement our established resilience work. We are looking for a highly motivated Resilience Consultant to help develop and deliver our ESG services, supporting clients with crisis management, business continuity, and risk management challenges.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Consultancy and Lead Consultants, you will play a key role in developing and shaping ESG-focused projects for a diverse portfolio of clients across local, national, and international sectors. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to developing and delivering our ESG services; however, you will also be expected to support and deliver our core resilience services, including crisis management, business continuity, and risk management.
You will support the growth of Horizonscan’s ESG offering while contributing to established resilience, crisis response, and business continuity programmes. This is a client-facing role requiring strong communication and relationship‑management skills, solid analytical capability, and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels. You will work on impactful projects that directly enhance organisational resilience and sustainability, helping clients understand their risks, strengthen preparedness, and embed ESG considerations into their strategic planning.
Please note this is not an entry‑level or graduate scheme role. We are looking for candidates with prior relevant experience (typically a minimum of one year), ideally gained in ESG, resilience, risk, sustainability, or a related field.
About you
We are looking for an experienced and motivated person with a strong interest in resilience, sustainability, and ESG, someone who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering practical, meaningful outcomes for clients. You will have already gained some relevant experience in ESG, resilience, risk, or a related field.
* Bring experience in ESG, climate risk and adaptation, or sustainability‑focused work
* Have knowledge in areas such as supply chain resilience, business operations, international development, business continuity, emergency planning, disaster management, ISO standards, or insurance
* Communicate confidently and build trusted client relationships
* Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive team
* Are willing to travel internationally
* Bring relevant experience from the public or private sector, or hold a related academic background
We welcome applicants who meet some, but not all, of these criteria. Highly valued experience includes: ESG or sustainability reporting, climate risk analysis, resilience frameworks, and strong analytical and communication skills. Your mindset, potential, and passion for resilience and ESG are just as important as formal experience.
* Legal right to live and work in the UK
* UK or EU passport (required for client travel)
* Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally for up to 40% of your time
Role Responsibilities
As this is a Resilience Consultant role with a strong ESG focus, a large proportion of your responsibilities will relate to ESG development and delivery, alongside your contribution to Horizonscan’s core services. Full training on delivering our core services will be provided. Your role will also include:
* Research, design and develop Horizonscan’s ESG services and tools
* Support ESG and resilience projects, including analysis, documentation, and client recommendations
* Prepare and maintain client materials, including policies, BCPs, BIAs, Risk Registers, and ESG reports
* Deliver client meetings, workshops, presentations, and training sessions
* Design exercise scenarios, including ESG and climate‑risk themes
* Support team members and help build internal ESG awareness
* Plan and organise client visits and project logistics
* Maintain high standards of confidentiality and professional development
* Proficiency in a second language
* Relevant Professional certifications
* Degree‑level education in a relevant discipline
* Practical experience in the private or private sector or within risk/resilience, emergency services, international development, local authorities, insurance, or the military
* Valid UK or EU driving licence
* Living locally in Kent or able to travel to Kent regularly
Salary & Benefits
* £37,000 – £42,000 starting salary depending on experience
* Generous training and development budget, including fully funded degrees or master’s programmes (where aligned with business need)
* Comprehensive benefits package including pension scheme, gym membership, health insurance, lunch vouchers, nights away allowance, and mobile phone allowance
* 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
* After one year, you become an employee‑owner, gaining access to additional benefits and a stake in our success

* Working hours are 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday
