We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join the Homecare Team for an 18‑month fixed‑term period. You will lead the Pharmacy Homecare Assistants and Supervisors, overseeing day‑to‑day operations to deliver a safe and effective home‑care service.
Job Overview
You will be responsible for ensuring the home‑care service runs smoothly, managing HR and recruitment, conducting service reviews, and handling financial accounts with home‑care providers. You will also support the Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Homecare and the Homecare Services Manager with service development.
Key Duties
* Manage the operational day‑to‑day functions of the home‑care team, including creation of purchase orders and secure transfer of documentation to providers.
* Prioritise workload according to clinical need and service requirements, ensuring key performance indicators are met.
* Maintain continuity of supply with providers, resolving any supply problems or queries.
* Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff, wider trust staff, suppliers, and patients or patient representatives.
* Oversee financial statements of providers, liaise with disputes teams to resolve invoicing queries, and ensure timely payment.
* Conduct quarterly performance review meetings with suppliers, including minute taking and action‑log management.
* Attend regional home‑care meetings on behalf of North Bristol NHS Trust as required.
* Run reports to monitor and record home‑care team workload statistics and complete monthly KPIs.
* Maintain CMU contract information on the pharmacy computer system and communicate it correctly to providers.
* Develop and review standard operating procedures, ensuring they are communicated and training is current.
* Support the Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Homecare and deputise where required.
* Engage in internal audits, training development, induction programmes, and continuous professional development.
* Co‑ordinate the home‑care work process in line with SOPs, safe working systems, and legal framework for medication supply.
Person Specification (Essential)
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services, or degree level qualification.
* Leadership and Management Level 2 qualification.
* IT competencies equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above, including experience using Microsoft Office.
* Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician or at least two years’ leadership experience.
* Experience managing a team of two or more people and working with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
* Experience managing and applying CMU contract information to pharmacy systems.
* Experience writing SOPs and analysing financial data.
* Excellent time‑management, organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to train, work flexibly under pressure, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
* Professional approach to dealing with staff, patients, and suppliers when handling sensitive information.
