Pastoral Officer – School of Pastoral Care
We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable individual to join our school as part of our team of Pastoral Officers. Each Pastoral Officer is linked to a year group and will work closely with that Head of Year and the wider Pastoral Team. You will provide dedicated pastoral support to our students in helping them to be motivated and engaged in learning, develop their resilience and capacity to respond more confidently to challenges whilst supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
The school day lends itself to a good work/life balance with the teaching day ending at 14:10. The school offers extensive support programmes, including a mentor/buddy system, Initial Teacher Training support for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or for those seeking Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS), a system of twilight training sessions and excellent development opportunities. Responsibilities
* Linked to a year group and work closely with Head of Year and the broader Pastoral Team.
* Provide dedicated pastoral support to students, encouraging motivation and engagement in learning.
* Develop students’ resilience and confidence to respond to challenges while supporting mental health and wellbeing.
* Track and use behavioural data to assist in developing tailored support plans.
* Support inclusion of students at risk of social exclusion.
* Collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure holistic support for students.
Qualifications & Experience
* Adaptable, caring and professional nature with a passion for delivering high-quality pastoral and behavioural support.
* Level 3 education in Teaching (or equivalent) including English & Maths.
* Ability to multi‑task and prioritise own.
* Strong communication skills; able to communicate professionally with colleagues and external teams.
* Significant and successful experience working with children across the age and ability ranges with challenging behaviour, emotional needs and complex wellbeing needs.
* Track record of using behavioural data to help develop tailored support plans.
* Experience in developing strategies to include students at risk of social exclusion.
