Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will assess care needs, develop and implement programmes of care, and evaluate them to provide high quality care to patients. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and unregistered staff and student nurses. Duties vary with the ward/department and patient dependency.
Additional responsibilities (after 2 years post registration)
* Direct, coordinate and supervise the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in patient care.
* Provide cover in the absence of the senior charge nurse, team leader, or deputy to ensure effective operation of the ward/department.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
* Excellent team working skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Desirable
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Evidence of CPD (e.g. Flying, Start, meeting PREP standards, Turas).
* Relevant post registration experience.
* Experience of unscheduled care.
* Broad knowledge across several specialities.
* Evidence of positive role modelling.
* Experience using NHS Patient Management Systems – Trak Care.
Contract type
Fixed term or secondment until 31 March 2026.
Working hours
Full time or part time – various hours; this post is part-time, salary pro‑rated.
Location and Working Pattern
Interface within Kirklands – NHSL Headquarters. Working pattern 12 hours over 7 days.
