Following an internal move, Spire Norwich Hospital is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This highly visible role will act as a key point of contact for both existing and prospective consultants, playing a vital part in shaping the hospital’s commercial success.
As a results‑focused and proactive professional, the BDM will provide a broad range of support across the hospital’s business development activities. This includes strengthening consultant relationships, supporting commercial opportunities, and contributing to targeted activity growth and service performance improvements.
Working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Business Development Director (BDD), the BDM will help deliver our local growth strategy, ensuring alignment with both site‑specific and wider Hub business development plans.
Duties and responsibilities
1. To be a highly visible member of the team seeking to identify and resolve issues and identify improvements for consultants leading to increased activity and share of practice
2. Support the Hospital Director Business Development Director to deliver business development initiatives with a specific focus on supporting the hospitals consultant body
3. Support the Hospital Director to identify and deliver emerging opportunities in line with the hospital growth strategy, including engaging with consultants to promote and develop their practice
4. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve blockers for practice growth and develop a comprehensive consultant engagement plan
5. To deliver the national BDM framework of reporting and engagement as outlined in the BDM Play Book
6. Liaise with the Hub BDE acting PR opportunities that involve the hospitals consultants or services
7. Work with the Business Development team as directed in promoting and developing new services conforming to Spire guidelines.
8. Support the delivery of patient events, including but not limited to liaising with Hub BDE on appropriate Consultants as part of the wider Business Development plan
9. Communicate and support the inclusion and administration of key networks. Hip and Knee or cataract networks
10. Promoting the use of Business Development tools including but not limited to direct PMI and online bookings and facilitating Consultants signing up to PMI networks
11. Act as a change champion for digitisation and transformation projects that impact consultants supporting their adoption
Hours: 9:00am - 17:00pm or 10.00 – 18.00, Monday to Friday
Who we're looking for
12. Experience of working with consultant surgeons in a private or NHS setting
13. Understanding of the UK private healthcare system
14. Commercial awareness
15. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
16. Strong prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
