Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
Responsibilities Work in a 12-bed Emergency Department within an acute care setting
Lower acuity patient population (ESI 3-4), including abdominal pain and headache, with a focus on stabilizing and transferring critically ill patients
Staff-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 in the ED
Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment
12-hour night shifts (7p-7a or 6p-6a), with 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and coverage for 2 out of 4 major holidays
Required to float to Litchfield FSED and Glendale FSED when needed
Orientation includes 2 days of floor-specific training and participation in a SIMs Lab
Onsite support from charge nurse, PCTs, paramedics, and an in-house physician
RNs complete all labs, EKGs, patient transport, and transfers
Team-oriented environment with a focus on maintaining a positive culture and supporting teamwork
Must maintain natural hair color and have no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit test
Scrub color is navy
All travelers must have their own vehicle for potential floating
Candidates cannot have been directly employed by CommonSpirit facilities within the past year; PRN via outside agency may be considered
SIMs Lab pass/fail testing is strictly enforced; failure results in ineligibility for 6 months at CommonSpirit AZ/Sacramento facilities
Requirements Active AZ RN license or compact state RN license required
Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; pending certifications not accepted
Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience
Must pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed
Completion of pass/fail skills assessment on sterile technique, Foley, and port-a-cath insertion on day 1 of orientation
Driver’s license required for 50-mile radius rule verification
References from one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years are required
