The Role
Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Electrical Technician at our Fakenham site. Fakenham is our dedicated Meat Free facility, producing vegetarian products for The Unbelievable ALT. brand and under license for Linda McCartney Foods.
PURPOSE OF ROLE / USP's
Job summary
1. Provide Electrical technical support to the Site Engineering Team whilst delivering professional and proactive response to breakdown situations across site ensuring continuity of production.
2. Provide Electrical and Automation Software support across the Site.
3. Provide controls support to the shift Engineers.
4. Support the recent installation of Automated Packaging equipment to ensure reliability and performance.
5. Ability to interrogate PLC inputs and output software.
6. Experience with Robots technology is desirable.
7. Work with outside contractors to ensure delivery, maintenance, service and best practice compliance.
8. Support and develop both the Production Engineering Team and Site Utilities Engineering Team to ensure the effective use of the current electrical skill base, supporting the daily operation
9. Drive improvements and reliability of assets across the Site.
10. Ensure that effective software maintenance continuity will be progressive and be successful in assisting the site achieve its targets utilising best practice and predictive techniques.
11. Have a broad knowledge of control instrumentation, Temp, Level, Speed etc.
12. Active part of Project implementation on site from a software / Technical point of view.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Quality and Hygiene
13. Ensure good working knowledge of Hain Daniels safety procedures and adhere to the Company Safety Code while also driving forward any health and safety initiatives.
14. Maintain a safe working environment and build a positive and successful Safety culture.
15. Ensure that the correct equipment is available and used at all times as required.
16. Improve Company Health and Safety through active participation in the “Make it Safe” “TOP’s Talks” & Health & Safety forums.
17. Deal with all health and safety issues professionally and efficiently.
18. Ensure all new and existing plant is relevantly risk assessed and safe to use.
19. Ensure that good programming practices are implemented for control systems involving change control and relevant archiving of software back up’s.
20. Ensure the Company hygiene code is adhered to at all times.
21. Maintain a good knowledge of company procedures and ensure these are complied with.
22. Continually improve methods to increase the current standards of quality and act as a source of best practice for engineering processes.
23. Work closely with the Engineering Management Team to agree and implement continuous improvement objectives and to support, as required, with all site engineering needs.
People Management
24. To provide the engineering team with clear instructions, information and assistance as required
25. Oversee control of relevant contractors attending site.
26. Work with the site engineering team members and operational colleagues to deliver the highest level of plant efficiency possible with in the existing constraints.
27. Ensure training is maintained and improved for your self and your peers.
28. Ensure engineers are developed to meet business needs in your areas of expertise
29. Ensuring that the site discipline procedure is administered and adhered to when required.
Operations Management
30. Ensure service levels are efficient and of a high standard.
31. Measure performance and seek to exceed set targets.
32. Plan to improve service to the customer (internal and external) wherever possible.
33. Liaise with and manage Service Contractors as necessary.
34. Ensure the plant is safe and effective for the job required whilst following routine checks and abiding to site and group guidelines.
35. Maintain co-operative working with other departments to ensure continuous improvement
36. Prioritise actions to ensure effective performance of your role.
37. Implement best practice infrastructure for the industrial control systems
38. Identify and implement opportunities to improve or replace equipment
Continuous Improvement
39. Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement (CI), to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction delivering demonstrable business benefits
40. Understanding of LEAN and methodology
41. To provide an innovative proactive support service to the site based on skill and experience, driving innovative solutions and improvements.
42. Responsible for achieving personal development objectives
43. To carryout small site improvement / development projects
44. Implement effective plant improvement action plans and encourage team working across different functions to achieve this.
45. Monitor your area of responsibility and improve standards through SOP’s, Documentation, Data Control and training.
46. Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum, whether that is product or other items used in the manufacture of that product.
47. Identify and improve areas that could be made more cost effective.
48. Consistently seek opportunities to improve profitability. Collate and implement action plans to support this.
Communication
49. Ensure that standards and procedures are in place and regularly updated including aspects of new asset realisation, safe working practices and management of contractors.
50. Meet with Engineering managers, Manufacturing, Team Leaders and Planning daily to ensure priorities are clear, understood and communicated accordingly, when required.
51. Utilise effective communication to inform all members of the team wherever possible.
Legal & Administrative
52. Ensure that operation meets all legal requirements with regard to health & safety, food safety, employment law and any other legal requirements.
53. Ensure that the Site Engineering Manager is informed of any areas where operation may not meet legal requirements.
What you will need for the role / what it will take
54. A minimum of five year’s experience in an Electrical Technician role, duties to include Controls & Automation.
55. Time served Electrical Apprenticeship.
56. Detailed understanding of control systems and processes.

60. Robot Knowledge KUKA and FANUC
61. Experience in diagnosing faults on the following PLC’s:-

63. Experience of market leading controls.
64. A good working knowledge of computer hardware.
65. A skilled thinker with the ability to critically assess the whole of the control system not just software related issues.
66. Ability to represent the company in a professional and highly competent manner.
67. Able to work flexible hours as required.
