The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages important environmental monitoring systems and datasets. In a multi‑disciplinary team you will support and learn from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users for monitoring systems.
* Provide user support and resolve issues, particularly during the transition to the new My Environment application.
* Update, improve, and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects.
Requirements
Experience and skills required:
* Experience working with large complex datasets.
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems.
* Motivated, organised, friendly, and helpful with an eye for detail; comfortable working in a dispersed team environment.
* Proactive, enjoys solving problems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service.
Other desirable experience/skills:
* Use and management of environmental monitoring data systems.
* Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and R.
* Working knowledge of water quality monitoring.
Additional Information
Work location is flexible; you must have a base at one of our offices across England and a presence there. Hybrid home/office working is offered, but some travel is expected for meetings.
All candidates are required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed. Incident response is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and supports communities and prevents harm to the environment.
