Overview
Lead Electronics Design Engineer role at Cicor Group. You will drive the design and development of cutting-edge electronic systems, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions that support defence technologies.
Responsibilities
* Plan and estimate resources for new projects
* Own technical risk management and mitigation
* Create design concepts, schematics and associated specifications, review packs and validation strategies
* Carry out verification and validation testing, and support factory acceptance testing
* Ensure design changes are documented, approved, released, and archived
* Conduct peer reviews and support formal design reviews
* Perform electronics cooling simulation modelling (training provided as needed)
* Conduct DFMEA (design failure mode effects analysis) reviews
* Keep design work cost-optimised within BOM targets and development labour budget
* Identify and implement opportunities to improve design process robustness/efficiency
* Provide support to junior and subcontract designers
* Support Production during prototype builds to resolve issues promptly
Qualifications
* Ability to gain SC clearance (essential security requirement)
* Electronics related degree; significant demonstrable experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
* Proficient in design and layout (ideally Altium) of high-reliability, power-efficient electronic circuits for demanding environments
* Strong understanding of EMC design principles
* Experience designing PCB assemblies with JTAG interfaces
* Experience in electronics packaging design
* Experience with various microcontrollers and associated microcode
* Experience designing for test and establishing test coverage
* Experience in analogue circuit design for sensors and interfaces
* Ability to assess power/battery solutions for demanding environments
* Ability to estimate work effort accurately and deliver on time with minimal supervision
* Willingness to acquire new skills and engage in professional development
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team
Advantageous
* Experience with electronics cooling simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks Electronics Cooling)
* Knowledge of intrinsically safe circuit design
* Practical LabVIEW experience
* Understanding of defence standards
* Experience with C/C++ for microcontrollers
* Practical exposure to software programming
* Experience in a highly regulated engineering environment (defence or aerospace)
