Role: Accounts Payable Assistant
Location: Durrington (Hybrid – 3 days office)
Contract: 12-month FTC
Salary: £26,721
Southern Water is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a crucial function that ensures timely and accurate payments to suppliers, supporting large-scale projects across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Accounts Payable Manager and Senior Accounts Payable Assistant in processing supplier payments via purchase orders, contract payment applications, and non-PO processes.
2. Investigate and resolve invoice queries and disputes promptly.
3. Maintain financial controls and adhere to approval limits.
4. Manage the Onshore Accounts Team mailbox, responding to internal and external queries.
5. Collaborate with our offshore AP team to ensure accurate invoice processing.
6. Assist with supplier uploads and resolve system interface errors.
7. Help process contract payment applications and ensure invoices are received and paid on time.

9. Strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
10. Basic Excel and Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook).
11. Numerate and organised, with attention to detail.
12. Adaptable to change.
13. No formal qualifications required – this could be a great stepping stone into finance!

Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington (Worthing) office and home.
