Job overview
East Lancashire Hospitals are looking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a consultant to join our team at Royal Blackburn Hospital. We currently have 18 Consultant Intensivists who staff the 28 bedded critical care unit.
Main duties of the job
The direct clinical care work on the 10 PA contract will initially comprise of 8.5 PAs for clinical care and 1.5 PAs of time reserved for SPA. Of the 8.5 PA clinical activity, up to 4 PAs will be available to support clinical activity of interest to the successful candidate. We have a diverse workforce with individuals having shared roles in anaesthesia, long term ventilation, acute medicine and respiratory medicine. The clinical activity is open to negotiation however it must support the organisations overall clinical strategy.
The critical care PAs include daytime sessions on critical care, the weekly MDT as well as on call for the ICU which currently averages out to 2.67 PAs per week.
