An excellent opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal clinic in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in a consulting-focused role.
This position is ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys consultations and preventative care, offering the chance to work within a supportive team while delivering high-quality veterinary services to a diverse client base.
About the Practice
The clinic is a modern, well-equipped small animal facility designed to support a wide range of medical and surgical cases, with a strong emphasis on high standards of patient care.
Facilities include:
1. 5 consultation rooms
2. Two fully equipped operating theatres
3. Dedicated dental suite
4. Separate dog and cat wards
5. Modern diagnostic and surgical equipment
The practice manages a broad and varied caseload, including both routine and more complex medical and surgical cases. Additional clinical expertise is available on-site, including orthopaedic support, enhancing both patient care and professional development opportunities.

The Role
This is a consulting-focused position, ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys client interaction and preventative healthcare.
Key responsibilities include:
9. Delivering high-quality consultations and vaccinations
10. Managing a variety of medical cases
11. Providing clear and empathetic communication to clients
12. Working closely with the nursing and support team
13. Contributing to ongoing patient care and case management
This role offers the opportunity to focus on consulting and medical case continuity, within a well-supported clinical setting.
Working Pattern
14. Part-time 20 hours per week
15. 4-day working week
16. 2 in 9 Saturdays (with time off in lieu)
This structured rota supports a flexible and balanced working lifestyle.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
17. Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
18. Be RCVS registered (or eligible)
19. Be confident with consultations and routine medical cases
20. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
21. Work well within a team-focused environment
22. Have a proactive and compassionate approach to patient care
Salary & Benefits
23. Salary £40,000 £55,000 (pro-rata, DOE)
24. 6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays
