About The Division
The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering opportunities to work on diverse and technically challenging projects. We support across the full project life cycle from advisory services and feasibility studies to design, construction support and site supervision.
Overview Of The Role
We have a strong track record in providing flood risk services. Our teams model, design and deliver flood management schemes globally and contribute to award-winning projects such as the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme. We complete Flood Risk Assessments for new developments and deliver Nature Based Solutions for flood risk management. You will have opportunities to grow your career through mentoring and training, with support for taking on more responsibilities as you progress.
Responsibilities
* Develop hydraulic models using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and ICM to aid Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies
* Analyse data using ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and Microsoft Excel
* Produce high quality reports for clients
* Undertake hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP
Alongside technical work, you will have opportunities to develop project management and business development skills, mentor and train junior staff, and contribute to a collaborative Water Resources and Flooding sub-sector.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience in delivering flood risk management studies
* Experience using hydraulic modelling software
* Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline
* Good communication and written skills
* Well organised and able to prioritise workload with minimal supervision
* Understand the importance of health, safety and environmental issues
Desirable
* Professional consultancy experience in flood modelling and flood risk management
* Working towards chartership with an appropriate professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, IMA)
* Experience in managing flood risk studies
* Knowledge of flood modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS or ICM
* Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS and Python
