We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in need. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care. This role involves supporting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being.
Duties
* Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition.
* Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
* Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
* Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
* Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with specific needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's care.
* Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional.
* Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and performing regular checks on equipment.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
This person is to play an important role within The Good Loaf supporting women involved within the criminal justice system (or at risk of). The work will be carried out at our premises on Overstone Road (NN1), The Criminal Justice Centre (NN4) and within the community.
KEY TASKS
o To engage with women whilst in police custody encouraging them to access our support services when released.
o To work with women on a one-to-one basis addressing issues which have caused their offending, including but not exclusively: accommodation, mental and physical wellbeing, debt / money management, substance misuse, education, training and employment, social networks.
o Where appropriate, to support women with CV writing, interview skills training and job searching. Further support during the transition to paid work including benefits advice.
o To engage with partner organisations including health professionals, social workers, housing and other agencies.
o To create and maintain confidential records pertaining to service users (including conducting service user evaluations).
o To actively participate in performance and development review meetings with your manager and to take responsibility for self-development.
o To undertake any other duties which are consistent with the position when required and/or assigned
KEY FACTORS FOR SELECTION
Essential Criteria
o Proven track record of working in a trauma informed manner successfully with vulnerable women including offenders.
o Knowledge of the criminal justice system and third sector, including safeguarding & risk management procedures.
o Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills.
o Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy at all times.
o Commitment to high standards of confidentiality, data protection and information sharing agreements.
o Ability to work with minimum supervision, and demonstrate self-motivation, as well as being able to work alongside other team members.
o Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and promote services effectively.
o Basic IT skills and proficiency with case management systems.
o A clean drivers license, own car and business insurance.
Condition of Employment
o Appointment and continuing employment will be subject to the granting and maintaining of a satisfactory DBS, police vetting and 2 suitable references. Staff are required to ensure immediate notification to their line manager of any personal involvement in criminal justice services.
