The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Therapy Team is seeking well-motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapists to join our rotation programme in South Cumbria. Applications are welcomed from undergraduates seeking roles following graduation, as well as from Physiotherapists with HCPC registration.
Rotations are available in acute and community settings within the Furness area, situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, offering easy access to recreational activities such as Fell Walking and water sports.
Our established Band 5 rotations provide opportunities to develop skills across various clinical environments within our friendly and supportive team. Rotations include inpatient, outpatient, and community services.
At Furness General Hospital (FGH), inpatient rotations include Surgical / ICU, Medical, Orthopaedics, and Stroke. Outpatient rotations in primary and secondary care settings offer opportunities to enhance MSK knowledge and skills, including treating patients referred from trauma and orthopaedic clinics, GPs, and amputee rehabilitation. The community rotation involves domiciliary visits and traveling around the local area, working with an experienced team managing a caseload of patients mainly referred from primary care.
Following training, you will be expected to contribute to weekend working and on-call rotas at Furness General Hospital.
Your role will be based in the Furness area and at Furness General Hospital.
The organisation operates from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community health premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer a range of hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various specialist services. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and outpatient care for non-life-threatening conditions.
All three hospitals provide planned care services, including outpatient clinics, diagnostics, therapies, day surgery, and inpatient surgery. Additionally, outreach services and diagnostics are available across Morecambe Bay.
For more information about the role and responsibilities, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification under the supporting documents. Additional details about University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay can be found on our website: https://www.uhmb.nhs.uk/
