The role
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager the Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer is responsible for providing support to the Murffits Group sites in relation health, environmental & fire provision, understanding and implementing policies, procedures and core documents.
This role is integral to promoting a positive Health and Safety culture and providing practical health and safety support to sites.
Location: Lakenheath - National travel will be required for to visit other locations within the Group.

Skills and Attributes
* Experience of HSE in an operational area, preferably in a Waste Management operation.
* Proactive, effective, and motivated team player who can demonstrate a strong capability of engaging with the workforce and be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
* Remains calm and works well under pressure in tight deadline situations, displaying exceptional organisational skills.
* High level of IT proficiency across Microsoft Office
* Experience of working to ISO standards is desirable.
* Must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in continually improving our Health, Safety and Environment performance.
* Be willing to travel as there is a requirement to visits all Murfitt's Group sites.
Licenses or Certifications
* IOSH Managing Safely (Mandatory)
* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (desirable)
* IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent (desirable)
* Internal Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Auditor (desirable)
Full UK Drivers Licence - B1 (Mandatory)
Key accountabilities
* Reviews and updates work method statements and risk assessments with site management, sends reminders when they are due. This includes Company generic assessments. DSE, Security etc.
* Carries out COSHH Assessments for both sites and issue.
* Assists in accident/incident investigation (CIR's), collates information, and sends to appropriate personnel for Murfitts sites and Stapletons Hubs.
* Ensures that contractor documentation is collated and up to date including insurance certificates, RA's
* Ensures in conjunction with site management that necessary training is identified and undertaken.
* Undertake audits to ensure Site Managers provide new employees with adequate inductions and update all necessary documentation regarding induction programmes.
* Actively researches appropriate information sources to determine any changes in legislation and develops, implements, and monitors systems to meet the company's obligations.
* In conjunction with site management, ensure that procedures are in place to control emergencies.
* Co-ordinates and maintains health, safety & environmental administration and ensures that all statutory records relevant to legislation are kept.
* Ensures that fire risk assessments are carried out and any non-compliances are rectified by site management as appropriate and that appropriate personal fire evacuation plans are in place for staff and visitors.
* Coordinating 6 monthly fire drills with Site Management
* Organises bi-annual noise assessments.
* Organises training & refresher training for all First Aiders.
* Organises yearly occupational health medicals for site staff.
* Act as the GDPR liaison between Credential sites and the ETEL Group Data Protection team.
* Co-ordinates site Health and Safety meetings.
* Prepares health safety and environmental presentations and Toolbox Talks for site management to use.
* Undertake audits to ensure Site Managers have appropriately trained and signed off employees on job skills
* Assist with any major health & safety projects.
* Complete the CHAS audit on an annual basis.
* Administer IHASCO training database and ensure that site staff are allocated nominated training sessions.
* Administers the statutory inspections database, ensuring that reports are sent to site and non-compliance issues are dealt with.
* Ensures that all environmental documentation with regards to site permits are maintained and kept up to date.
* Ensures that duty of care audits from customers are dealt with and fire prevention plans are kept up to date.
* Assists with Environment Agency visits where necessary and collates & submits Environment Agency returns on a quarterly basis.
* In attendance for TRA audits and supplies appropriate documentation.
* Completes customer complaints documentation and ensures that complaint is followed through.
* CoTC holder – back up for site absence if required.
* Ensure that weighbridges are calibrated, and appropriate documentation is completed.
* Collates environmental data for ETEL's yearly summary.
