Head of Year
We are looking to appoint an ambitious Head of Year to lead the pastoral development of a specific year group. You will champion high standards of behaviour, support student wellbeing, and inspire excellence, ensuring every student thrives both personally and academically. The purpose of this role is to oversee the general welfare, progress, behaviour and overall pastoral needs of students in a specified year group and to address pastoral needs of students who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities
* Lead on coordinating appropriate interventions for students in your year group whose attendance, behaviour or achievement is a concern
* Manage and implement all required sanctions
* Advise first aid staff on sending sick students home, where applicable
* Follow all safeguarding procedures and work closely with child protection leads to ensure identified students are closely monitored
* Contribute ideas to the development and improvement of pastoral support assisted by information and experiences of good practice in other establishments
Pay range
NJC 15-23: £26,406.93 - £30,285.65 (FTE: £30,024 - £34,434)
37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent
* Proven record of raising standards and pupil achievement
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues and procedures
* Effective behaviour management skills
