Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Information Governance Officerto join our Information and Data Governance Team, working within our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £ 38,220 - £ 40,777 (Grade 6).This role is based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter, but there is also the possibility for some home working / the possibility to work from another Service location with agreement from the hiring manager. This is an exciting opportunity to joining a team which supports the Service in achieving its statutory obligations in compliance risk management. The Information Compliance team is part of the wider Information and Data Governance Function that sits within the Digital Data and Technology Department. Responding to information requests from internal and external sources, investigating security events, assessing information processing risks and raising awareness make this role an exciting, challenging and value adding asset to the Service.
This role would suit an individual who enjoys problem solving, helping others, has a strong attention to detail, great communication skills and is confident making decisions around statutory and operational guidance.
This role can be completed largely from home, or any local Service premises, with the expectation that the successful candidate will come to SHQ when required. Currently there is mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting with the wider Information and data Governance function.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing requests for information via the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
* Investigating reported security events, mitigating risk and analysing trends.
* Delivering training and awareness on good IG practice.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge and practical experience within the field of data protection and freedom of information. A practitioner qualification is preferred but this could also be offered as a training opportunity for the right person.
