Job Summary
The Early Intervention Practitioner works in partnership with At Risk Mental State (ARMS) and First Episode Psychosis (FEP) service users, providing care and treatment that supports hope and aspirations and informs their recovery plans.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist health and recovery focused assessments.
* Provide a highly specialised range of clinical interventions relevant to the care group.
* Deliver care under the Care Programme Approach and support colleagues, acting as care coordinator.
* Manage a caseload of clients with complex health needs.
* Develop outcome‑based care plans for individuals and families/carers.
* Plan and implement client‑centred individual, family and group interventions, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
* Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to measure progress and ensure effectiveness.
* Administer or monitor medication prescribed to service users – nurses only – and ensure safe custody, control, disposal of medication and clinical waste.
* Implement all relevant policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Qualified RMN/OT/SW with current professional registration.
* Demonstrable substantive post‑qualifying experience in psychiatry at Band 6 in a community mental health setting.
* Experience of supervising junior staff.
* Knowledge of mental health disorders and their relationship to physical disorders.
* Assessment skills; risk assessment and management.
* Understanding of recovery principles, risk management, positive risk taking and strengths‑oriented approaches.
* Clinical knowledge capable of autonomous decision‑making.
* Higher‑level written and oral communication skills.

* CBT training.
* Family Therapy Qualification.
* Evidence of recent or ongoing continuous professional development.
* Experience with ARMS service.
* Experience with Children and Adolescents CAMHS.
* Experience in Care Programme Approach planning and coordination.
* Experience working with people with psychosis.
* Car owner/driver.
* Lived experience of mental health issues.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
