About the role: The role of the Operations Compliance Auditor entails assessing the food safety and hygiene standards attained at all operational sites in accordance with Ocado's Quality Management System policies and procedures. Your responsibilities include conducting audits and assessments of Ocado operations and affiliated service providers according to a designated timetable and as per business needs. As the primary contact for audit inquiries, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role. You will be: As an Operations Compliance Auditor, you will oversee periodic audits based on a risk-oriented schedule, with additional audits conducted to evaluate the efficacy of root cause analyses and corrective actions. Your role entails close collaboration with Operations Managers and their teams to ensure a thorough understanding of the audit process, prompt action on non-compliances, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Serving as a champion for food safety and quality culture, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure on-site compliance processes are appropriate and well-understood, serving as the primary contact for audit-related inquiries. Your responsibilities extend to identifying and assessing risks, fostering collaboration with operational teams to implement improvement opportunities, and disseminating best practices across sites. Engaging with onsite service providers will involve liaising with contract key account managers to monitor service level agreements and support Facilities Management. Working alongside the Food Technology Lead and other TP&C Team members, you'll enhance your expertise in food safety and compliance, providing guidance on technical matters and contributing to policy and procedure development. Together with the Food Technology Lead, you will devise a method to measure and periodically report audit findings, utilizing data insights to formulate and execute a comprehensive action plan aimed at enhancing Ocado’s food safety and quality culture. About you: The Accountabilities of this role encompass a wide range of responsibilities, starting with the auditing and management of the internal audit program and administration of the operating platform. This involves organising and prioritising workload to meet audit schedules, coordinating audit appointments with key stakeholders, and ensuring clear and accurate audit reports are generated with findings, recommendations, and next steps. Additionally, the role involves identifying and categorising risks and non-conformances, leading opening and closing meetings with stakeholders, driving action plans for poor audit performance, and providing guidance and coaching to ensure compliance requirements are met. Root cause analysis and corrective actions must be effective and closed within agreed timescales, with non-conformances raised and addressed promptly. Collaboration with the Food Technology Lead is crucial for reviewing trends and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Utilising audit report data to identify emerging trends and develop reports with action plans is essential, as is presenting audit findings and recommendations to stakeholders on a regular basis. The role also entails updating and creating audit templates and associated documents, conducting gap analyses for HACCP procedures, participating in projects and environmental sampling, and assisting with third-party accreditation gap analyses. On-call duties may be required, along with providing operational support during peak seasonal trading and deputising for colleagues when necessary. The ideal candidate will possess Level 4 HACCP & Food Safety certification, a Lead Auditor qualification, and either a degree in Food Science/Technology or three years of experience in a food safety audit role.
