Consultant in Intensive Care +/- Anaesthesia
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine (plus or minus another specialty) to join a friendly and forward‑thinking team of 12 intensive care consultants. Candidates who are unable to work full‑time can discuss flexible arrangements on an individual basis.
Job Summary
As a consultant you will lead the delivery of high‑quality intensive care medicine, oversee patient care, and contribute to service development and research.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise intensive care services.
* Deliver clinical care, including resuscitation, emergency, and anaesthesia support.
* Mentor junior staff and oversee training and teaching.
* Participate in research and quality improvement projects.
* Engage with safeguarding and child protection policies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full registration with the GMC and named on the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
* MBChB.
* FICM or equivalent; fellowship in parent specialty where appropriate.
* Formal postgraduate training in medical education and medical leadership.
* ALS certification.
* Expected to hold GMC‑mandated Clinical Supervisor status.
* Experience in the UK Intensive Care setting.
Desirable
* Higher medical degree or diploma.
* Formal postgraduate medical leadership training.
* Trauma course.
* Formal postgraduate medical education training.
* Evidence of participation in research and quality improvement projects.
