Job Summary
The Specialist – Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) (Process Safety) supports the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s major accident prevention framework, process safety standards, and barrier management systems.
The role provides technical, analytical, and coordination support across process safety activities including performance standards, barrier health monitoring, safety cases, and assurance processes, contributing to the effectiveness and consistency of the company’s process safety program.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supports the implementation and maintenance of the company Process Safety Standard and supporting procedures across operations.
2. Assists in the development, maintenance, and review of hazard registers, safety cases, and performance standards.
3. Supports the population, maintenance, and quality assurance of barrier health and performance data, including dashboards and associated reporting tools.
4. Assists in monitoring barrier availability, functionality, reliability, and survivability, and supports identification of degraded or failed barriers.
5. Coordinates and supports BowTie reviews, barrier analyses, and HSE Case updates, including material changes and periodic reviews.
6. Supports the review of Process Safety Events (PSEs), incident investigations, and audit findings to assist in identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
7. Assists with the tracking and monitoring of actions arising from Management of Change (MoC), audits, investigations, and assurance activities.
8. Supports the development of process safety documentation, reports, presentations, and training materials.
9. Coordinates with regional QHSE teams, Operations, Reliability & Maintenance, and other stakeholders to support consistent application of process safety requirements.
10. Participates in internal and external audits and inspections, providing supporting documentation and follow-up tracking as required.
11. Maintains process safety records, databases, and document control in accordance with company requirements.
Qualifications / Experience
12. Bachelor’s degree (preferred); or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
13. Prior experience in a QHSE, technical safety, engineering, or operational support role.
14. Working knowledge of process safety principles, risk assessment, and barrier management concepts.
Preferred
15. Formal HSE or process safety qualification ( NEBOSH or equivalent) advantageous.
16. Experience in offshore or oil and gas operations or other high-hazard industries.
17. Exposure to BowTie analysis, safety cases, or performance standards.
Skills & Other Job Requirements
18. Understanding of safety management systems and structured risk management approaches.
19. Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
20. High proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office platform and associated tools, including data analysis and structured reporting.
21. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision making.
22. Ability to work effectively within a team while managing assigned tasks independently.
23. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
24. Willingness to learn and develop technical depth in process safety and barrier management.
25. Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter, if required.
