A well-established and growing decentralised energy business is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join its service team in the North West of the UK. The company is a recognised manufacturer and service provider of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, delivering efficient, low-carbon energy solutions to industrial, commercial, and public sector clients across the UK.This role would suit a recently qualified Electrical Engineer, or a junior engineer with experience in power generation, generators, switchgear, or industrial electrical systems who is looking to build a long-term career within the CHP sector.This is a field-based position offering a mix of planned maintenance, reactive fault finding, commissioning support, and technical assistance - backed by an experienced and supportive engineering team.Responsibilities: Travel to customer sites across the North West to support servicing and first-response breakdowns on CHP and engine-based power systemsAssist with planned and reactive electrical maintenance, including diagnostics and fault rectificationSupport senior engineers with commissioning activities and system upgradesProduce clear and detailed service reports, identifying faults and recommended remedial actionsLiaise with customers and internal teams to ensure professional and efficient service deliveryProvide technical support to colleagues and contribute to the wider engineering teamSupport internal and customer training activities where requiredMaintain high health & safety standards, including completion of risk assessments and method statementsAct as a professional representative of the business on customer sites Requirements: HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineSome practical experience in industrial electrical systems, generators, CHP, switchgear, or control panelsBasic electrical fault-finding capability with a willingness to develop advanced diagnostic skillsFamiliarity with control systems or PLCs (training provided if required)Full UK driving licenceAbility to work independently in the field while maintaining strong communication with office-based teamsPositive, proactive attitude with strong customer-facing skillsWillingness to travel across the North West and occasionally stay away from home Package & Benefits: Competitive salary, depending on experience£10 per day lunch allowanceCompany vehicle with optional private usePaid overtime and overnight stay allowances25 days holiday plus bank holidaysStructured training and development programme, including manufacturer-led CHP trainingClear progression pathway into Senior Electrical Engineer rolesLong-term, stable role within a supportive and technically focused organisation If you're a junior electrical engineer looking to develop your career within the growing decentralised energy sector in the North West, this is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist training and long-term progression.Referrals are welcome, and a referral bonus is available for successful introductions.
