Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate to join a dynamic public office at the forefront of policing, community safety, and justice reform. As part of a new structure designed to build capability and reach, this 12-month graduate placement offers a unique chance to contribute to strategic communications and high-impact projects, including the Serious Violence duty, Youth Commission and the Prevention Pathfinder Panel.
The successful candidate will rotate across three directorates—Communications and Engagement, Policy & Partnerships, and Resources & Governance—gaining broad exposure to strategic communications, policy development, commissioning, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Engagement
- Support operational and digital communications aligned with the Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCCs) public engagement strategy.
- Enhance the OPCC’s digital presence through timely, inclusive, and engaging content (e.g., TikTok, Threads, Instagram Reels).
- Contribute to building public confidence and reaching underrepresented audiences.
Policy & Partnerships
- Assist with commissioning analysis for the PCC’s Violence Pathfinder Prevention Panel.
- Conduct horizon scanning for new policies and funding opportunities from the Home Office, Association of Police & Crime Commissioners and the Ministry of Justice.
- Support development of the Youth Commission and Retail Crime Strategy.
Resources & Oversight
- Support delivery of the PCC’s Serious Violence Duty commitments, including bid analysis and partner engagement.
- Assist with financial analysis, risk management, and compliance activities.
