Proactive IT Appointments are delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation in the financial services sector who are looking to appoint an experienced Data Management Lead.
This is an exciting opportunity for a data governance and security specialist to take ownership of the organisation’s data management framework, strengthening controls, improving governance, and enhancing the company’s overall data security posture.
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert in data management, data security, and data risk, providing pragmatic, risk-based guidance across the organisation rather than purely theoretical recommendations.

* Ensure compliance with UK GDPR, PECR, FCA regulations, and internal risk policies.
* Report on data risks, governance maturity, and remediation progress to senior stakeholders.
* Track and oversee actions required to address identified issues.
* Act as a point of escalation for data governance or security concerns.
* Conduct due diligence on third-party suppliers and data partners.
* Work closely with business teams to balance data usage opportunities with security and risk considerations.
Experience Required
* 5+ years’ experience in data management, data security, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience implementing and improving data governance and security controls.
* Strong understanding of the end-to-end data lifecycle (collection, storage, use, sharing, retention, disposal).
* Knowledge of common cyber threats and effective mitigation strategies.
* Experience assessing third-party and supplier data risks.
* Good knowledge of UK GDPR, PECR, and broader data protection principles.
* Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively on data and security risks.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
