Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management - 31666

This role focuses on shaping and delivering Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes, including the Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT), in partnership with Defra, delivery bodies and other stakeholders. The role supports the EA2030 strategy and government targets for water, the environment and climate by influencing the design and delivery of incentives and the Agency’s response to recent government reviews.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic advice in meetings, manage commissions, and oversee Programme milestones across teams and organisations, including senior leaders.
* Identify future risks and resource requirements to ensure effective delivery of ELM reforms.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSHT through scheme design and delivery.
* Articulate a scheme that supports outcomes across the business, working with internal and external partners.
Experience/Skills Required
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies; ability to represent EA expertise to achieve consistency and better collaboration.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding of environmental sensitivities related to major agricultural sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; a self-starter who proactively develops and advances ideas.
* Ideal candidates will demonstrate: getting things done through others, embodying EA culture, ensuring trusted information, cascading key information, building rapid relationships, and calming stakeholder situations.

Additional Information
* National role with flexible/hybrid working in England; some travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.
* You’ll have an EA Office base location; incident management objective may be in your development plan; appropriate training will be provided.
