About the Role
Communication Support Worker - Cambridge & Huntingdon campuses, start ASAP, permanent, term time only.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate communication with deaf learners using BSL, SSE, note‑taking, lip‑speaking and language modification.
* Support learners during lessons, assessments and off‑site activities.
* Adapt and modify language and resources for accessible learning.
* Liaise with teaching staff on communication and accessibility strategies.
* Promote inclusion, equality and positive learning experiences across the college.
Qualifications (What They’re Looking For)
* Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (minimum requirement).
* GCSEs (or Level 2 equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Experience supporting learners in an educational setting – ideally in Further Education.
* Strong understanding of Deaf culture, inclusive education and communication support.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
* Comfortable travelling between campuses and supporting learners off‑site when required.
Additional Advantages
* Level 3 Certificate in Communication Support for Deaf Learners.
* Level 3 Award in Modifying Written English Texts for Deaf People.
