Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality legal advice and support across our telecom business, with a focus on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, data protection, and technology-related legal issues. You will ensure that the organization operates in line with UK laws and telecom regulations, managing legal risk and supporting strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commercial & Technology Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate telecom-related agreements including service-level agreements (SLAs), vendor contracts, infrastructure sharing agreements, MVNO/MVNE agreements, and other technology contracts.
* Regulatory Compliance (Ofcom & UK Telecom Law): Ensure compliance with UK telecoms regulation (e.g. Ofcom General Conditions), spectrum licensing, network access obligations, and other statutory telecom requirements.
* Data Privacy & Security: Provide guidance on data protection compliance (GDPR, PECR), including issues related to network data, customer communications, and retention policies.
* Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Advise on customer disputes, commercial litigation, and contract enforcement. Assist in resolving regulatory investigations or audits from Ofcom or ICO.
* Cross-functional Support: Partner with internal teams (commercial, network, compliance, IT, marketing, procurement) to support projects and manage legal risk.
* Strategic Legal Input: Support M&A (mergers and acquisitions) activity, strategic partnerships, or infrastructure investments (e.g. fibre rollouts, 5G deployments).
* Policy Development: Help draft and implement internal policies and processes aligned with legal and regulatory obligations.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction)
* 2-4 years Post-Qualification Experience
* Combine strong commercial acumen with pragmatic legal thinking
* Curious about emerging tech (AI, machine learning) and their legal implications
* Previous experience in telecoms, tech, or regulated sectors
* Strong knowledge of contract law, telecom regulation (Ofcom), and data protection (GDPR/PECR)
* Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear business advice
* Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and commercial teams
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.
Desirable Experience:
* Familiarity with wholesale telecoms, mobile infrastructure, fibre networks, or IoT services.
* Experience with digital platforms, cloud services, or cybersecurity law.
* In-house experience in a telecoms operator, ISP, or network provider.
