ABOUT US
Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.
We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company (now with Sony), and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the o2 to celebrate the Millennium.
As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product as we work hard as a team. We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a creative and commercially minded Product Development Coordinator to lead the development of products that span fragrance, 90s-inspired capsule wardrobes, brand collaborations, and other lifestyle and experiential formats. This is a standalone role with real scope to shape how our ideas come to life — blending cultural relevance with operational precision.
You’ll be the central force behind product development across the business, guiding projects from initial concept and feasibility through to launch and post-launch evaluation. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure every product aligns with our brand vision and audience expectations, while managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
Collaboration will be key. You’ll partner with external designers, manufacturers, and brand collaborators to co-create products that reflect Ministry’s identity and cultural edge. You’ll facilitate ideation workshops and creative reviews, helping to refine concepts and translate them into actionable development plans — from prototyping and sampling to testing and production.
You’ll manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and oversee quality assurance processes. You’ll also coordinate packaging, branding, and product storytelling in collaboration with our design and marketing teams, ensuring every product feels cohesive and compelling.
As part of our brand strategy, you’ll identify and evaluate potential partners for co-branded opportunities, conduct market and trend research to inform product positioning, and stay tuned into cultural shifts and emerging formats to inspire new ideas. You’ll also lead launch strategies in collaboration with marketing, retail, and events teams, coordinating product drops, pop-ups, and activations that drive engagement and sales.
From logistics and fulfilment to packaging and stock control, you’ll set up the right distribution channels and ensure seamless integration of product launches into broader brand campaigns and seasonal calendars. You’ll provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities, and implement mitigation plans where needed — whether that’s production delays, IP concerns, or quality issues.
You’ll bring a strong understanding of the full product lifecycle, from concept to shelf, and have experience managing external partners and suppliers. You’ll be confident handling customer inquiries, reporting on sales, and navigating stakeholder relationships with clarity and impact. Above all, you’ll be highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects, and energised by the opportunity to shape products that push boundaries and reflect our brand’s creative spirit.
