Job Summary
World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is looking to recruit a Development and Production Test Engineer – Electronic / Electrical subcontractor on an initial 12‑month contract.
Experience Required
* Must have significant experience with measurement and test principles, and associated test equipment.
* Electronic Component level fault finding
* CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment is desirable.
* RF and microwave technology at subsystem level would be an advantage.
* Environmental testing would also be an advantage.
* High Voltage training/awareness.
* SAP Beneficial
The department is keen to hear from candidates with either RF / Microwave skills or strong Test, Diagnostics, Repair Engineering skills.
Contract Details
Hourly Rate: £36.00ph (Umbrella). Time and a quarter Overtime rate for hours worked over 37 hours.
Contract Duration: 12 months (initially and then ongoing and long‑term thereafter).
Responsibilities
As a Production Test Engineer – Electronics, you will support testing and diagnostics of electrical/electronic sub‑systems and circuit cards during the production phase. You will provide technical support to the manufacturing test capability to meet programme targets for time, cost and quality.
* Providing test engineering support to operators on the shop floor, including support for new test equipment introductions.
* Testing and diagnosing complex electrical/electronic systems, sub‑assemblies and circuit cards down to component level.
* Generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher‑level requirements.
* Promptly identifying remedial and corrective actions to allow Manufacturing to continue in line with the programme following production test failures.
* Supporting meetings with Quality and Operations to provide status updates on Test Engineering actions and investigations.
Skillset and Experience
Essential:
* Minimum HNC level of Engineering qualifications or equivalent.
* Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles, and fault diagnosis techniques, with demonstrable experience down to component level.
* Awareness of electrical/electronic sub‑system and system design, integration and test principles.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.
Advantageous:
* Knowledge of RF and Microwave technology at the subsystem level.
* Experience operating manual and automated test equipment in an Electronics Manufacturing environment.
