Clerical Officer Medical Records

This role will entail retrieving notes from the filing libraries and filing them back in numerical order. This may require the use of ladders or step stools (full training will be provided). The use of a PC with the Trust's Patient Administration System will form part of the daily requirements. It is important to work as part of a team as well as on your own. The role requires good manual handling skills.
This role involves working as part of a team to ensure that the notes required for outpatient attendances and inpatient episodes are prepped and made ready in time for the patient's attendance. The majority of the time the role is desk-based, but there is a requirement for staff to retrieve notes from filing units to enable them to prepare them for clinics.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will use the Trust's Patient Administration System (PAS) SEMA, within all areas of Health Records and Patient Access; this will require extensive use of a VDU and keyboard skills daily. Responsibilities include receive, sort and deliver patient records to all wards and departments including peripheral buildings as instructed by the Medical Records Supervisor. They are responsible for providing a comprehensive day-to-day health library service. Performance standards specific to the area will be met. When handling patient information or discussing patient needs, confidentiality guidelines are strictly adhered to and close attention is given to the Trust's Confidentiality Policy and Information Governance guidelines. The role respects Health & Safety policy at all times. The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, excessive walking and physical effort involving moving and handling.
