The Clinical Practice Educator will support the provision of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) amendment prior to the transition to the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
The post holder will be hosted within the Safeguarding Team at Charnwood House, but will be expected to travel to other trust properties within the Trust.
A key element of the role will be the identification of the learning and development needs of Health Care Professionals working within the Trust and the coordination/implementation of a programme of development.
The post holder will also contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility.
Main duties of the job
By working autonomously, the post holder will:
* Identify and develop training opportunities for Doctors, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Allied Health Professionals within the Trust.
* Identify the ongoing professional development needs of Doctors, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Allied Health Professionals within the Trust.
* Support the development of quality monitoring processes and systems for "in-house" training programmes, for example, accreditation of training programmes for Doctors, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Allied Health Professionals within the Trust.
* Support the development of multi-professional learning environments and developments.
* Provide clear clinical leadership and professional support for Doctors, Registered Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Allied Health Professionals within the Trust.
* Work closely with education providers to ensure organisations are responsive to service needs.
* Support pre-registration and post-registration nursing students throughout their experience on placement, and to facilitate the effective mentoring of students.
* Identify and address the education and development needs of the current and future workforce and provide appropriate professional development opportunities.
* Support the safeguarding and vulnerable persons workplan.
* Deputise for the Head of Safeguarding when required.

Person Specification
Education
* Knowledge of Theories & Models of Learning for Educational Research & Practice.
* Extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist professional knowledge and specialist knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice, to Masters level equivalent.
* Awareness of wider health and social care agenda.
Experience
* Experience of lesson planning, and evaluation.
* Experience of clinical and theoretical teaching in a range of contexts.
* Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of specialty e.g. Mental Capacity Act 2005, Best Interests Assessor Accreditation.
* Worked at a Band 6 level or above for a sufficient period within the health and social care setting.
* Experience in a range of clinical settings.
