A day in the life of a PTDM
As the Principal Training Design Manager for all Basic Flying and Fast Jet training courses at RAF Valley, you will play a key role in delivering highly trained fast jet aircrew to the UK Armed Forces. The role is based at RAF Valley with occasional travel to Bristol.
You will:
* Lead the design, development, and maintenance of syllabus content and courseware for Hawk T2 and Texan aircrew training courses.
* Ensure training courses meet high standards expected by customers and operational units.
* Manage changes to syllabus and courseware, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
* Provide leadership to the training design and courseware teams, ensuring high-quality content delivery within budget and timeframes.
* Offer fast jet training expertise and advice to leadership and colleagues.
* Be the primary contact for fast jet training with key stakeholders.
* Ensure all customer training requirements are defined and met.
* Maintain safety, integrity, and quality of the Training System Design.
* Contribute to shaping the Future Fast Jet Training Strategy.
* Lead innovative projects to generate customer value in fast jet training.
Success factors
You should have a strong background in Military Fast Jet Pilot Training, including:
* Extensive experience in airborne fast jet training.
* Deep knowledge of fast jet doctrine and tactics, with operational experience in 4th or 5th Generation Fighters.
* Previous flying experience in Hawk T2 or similar variants.
* Above-average instructional qualifications in relevant aviation roles.
* Excellent communication skills and leadership ability to manage stakeholders and set clear goals.
* A passion for fast jet pilot training and a vision for the UK Fast Jet Training System.
Ideally, you will also have:
* An interest in industry developments and innovations, including synthetic training devices.
* Project management or business development experience.
* Knowledge of courseware design principles and DSAT requirements (JSP822).
* Experience in system design, flight testing, and integration.
