Job Description:
The Role
Exciting Opportunity for a Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist in CAMHS & NDS - NHS Lanarkshire
Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people? NHS Lanarkshire is seeking two Prescribing Clinical Pharmacists to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) & Neurodevelopmental Services (NDS) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of a specialised clinical pharmacy service in a forward-thinking environment.
About the Role:
NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS & NDS have undergone significant service redesign, including the introduction of advanced clinical pharmacists. This role will support and develop the pharmacy service by providing safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmaceutical care to children and young people up to 18 years old.
Your work will cover areas like ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression. You will lead pharmacist prescribing clinics, monitor treatments, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.
There are two full-time posts (37 hours): one in CAMHS North Locality Teams (Coathill Hospital, Coatbridge and Airbles Road Centre, Motherwell) and one in CAMHS South Locality Teams (Udston Hospital, Hamilton). Support to NDS across Lanarkshire may be required later. A driving license and willingness to travel are essential.
Currently, no on-call or weekend work is required, but this may change as the service evolves.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide outpatient clinics: prescribe, monitor, and review medications for young people with mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Collaborate with teams: work closely with the advanced clinical pharmacist team and multidisciplinary staff to deliver integrated care.
• Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services: contribute to governance, quality improvement, audits, research, and service evaluation.
• Provide education and training: support pharmacy students and train staff to promote clinical pharmacy in CAMHS & NDS.
