About the role:
A specialist SEMH school in Spalding is seeking a full‑time Teaching Assistant to join their team after the Easter break. The school supports secondary‑aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, delivering a nurturing and structured learning environment focused on emotional regulation, positive behaviour routines and small‑group academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning activities and scaffold tasks so students with SEMH needs can access lessons confidently.
* Support emotional regulation by modelling calming strategies, offering check‑ins, and using restorative approaches.
* Promote consistent behaviour expectations and encourage positive learning routines throughout the school day.
* Build safe, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage engagement through praise‑based strategies.
* Assist with de‑escalation where necessary using trauma‑informed and school‑approved behaviour strategies.
Pre‑requisites:
* Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, behaviour challenges or trauma‑related barriers.
* Ability to use de‑escalation and restorative approaches confidently and calmly.
* Understanding of how SEMH impacts learning, emotional regulation and behaviour.
* Experience as a TA, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker or similar.
