Caretaker - Primary School - Lancaster Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale Caretaker A welcoming and successful Primary School in Lancaster is seeking a dependable and hardworking Caretaker to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys working in a school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the school site remains safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. The role will involve carrying out a wide range of site management and maintenance duties. You will be responsible for opening and closing the school site, conducting daily inspections and ensuring that all buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard throughout the year. Daily responsibilities will include carrying out minor repairs, monitoring site security, supporting health and safety compliance, checking facilities and equipment, assisting with deliveries and ensuring that classrooms, communal areas and outdoor spaces remain safe and presentable. You will work closely with the Headteacher, School Business Manager and external contractors to ensure maintenance issues are identified and resolved promptly. You will also support the preparation of school events, room layouts, assemblies and parent evenings. The successful candidate will be practical, reliable and capable of working independently. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach will be essential. Experience of basic maintenance, building upkeep and health and safety procedures would be highly advantageous.
