Job Description:
In this exciting role, you will provide specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to support the development of functional designs for external communications systems. You’ll have the chance to operate equipment directly and collaborate closely with ship staff onboard, supporting training activities and the handover of the system once it reaches maturity.
Core Duties:
* Maturing the external communications sub-system on the submarine from build to test.
* Conducting test and trial events on the submarine.
* Managing subcontractor visits for test events, including submitting security forms and health and safety briefs.
* Investigating defects or non-conformities during installation or testing to reach resolutions.
* Defining systems architecture, components, interfaces, and data to enable the development and production of component sub-systems.
* Understanding contractual and performance requirements for external communications systems, supporting the definition and acceptance criteria through design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
Essential Skills:
* Experience in Field Engineering/Construction Engineering, particularly in test and commissioning.
* Domain specialist in communications systems.
* Relevant experience in fault-finding roles.
* Electrical/electronic experience.
The Build Integration – External Communications Team:
This dynamic team oversees the installation and testing of the Combat System on build boats. This role focuses specifically on External Communication, collaborating with the operations department to install equipment and coordinate subcontractors and specialists throughout the build lifecycle.
We also offer relocation support packages for all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
