Job Title: Management AccountantReports to: Senior Finance Manager
Overview:An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and proactive Management Accountant to join a high-performing finance team. This role will support sustainable business growth by ensuring accurate and timely management reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and working collaboratively across departments-particularly with operations-to promote financial insight and discipline throughout the organisation.
The ideal candidate will possess a curious and analytical mindset, be capable of producing meaningful variance analysis, and be comfortable translating numbers into actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders. A hands-on, collaborative approach and the ability to foster a positive financial culture are key.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly and periodic management accounts in line with internal deadlines.
* Ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax, and other regulatory financial requirements.
* Maintain and review robust balance sheet reconciliations and supporting analysis.
* Periodically analyse working capital, including inventory, and propose actionable improvements.
* Support the FP&A function with budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and scenario modelling.
* Maintain and improve internal control frameworks, particularly around revenue recognition, labour allocation, project accounting, and inventory.
* Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems automation, and data-driven insights.
* Build strong relationships with operational teams to support financial understanding and accountability.
* Assist in statutory account preparation and work closely with external auditors.
* Contribute to finance system enhancements and assist in any new system implementations.
* Undertake other tasks as required by the Senior Finance Manager.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience:
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Proven management accounting experience in high-quality, fast-paced environments.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver clear financial insight.
* Track record of delivering reporting under tight deadlines.
* Experience improving finance processes and controls, particularly in areas like revenue recognition, project accounting, or inventory management.
* Confident in preparing and submitting VAT returns.
* Experience with enhancing internal control environments and promoting compliance.
* Exposure to budgeting and forecasting, with a proactive approach to delivering corrective action.
* Experience using or implementing AI tools to improve finance workflows is desirable.
