We're looking for an experienced and motivated Principal Development Engineer to take the technical lead on major energy efficiency and renewable energy projects across the UK. From concept to investment-grade proposals, you'll guide every stage of development, working alongside bid teams, clients, and contractors to create innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions. This is a senior role that blends technical leadership, commercial insight, and project development strategy — perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. What You’ll Do: Lead engineering development across High-Level Appraisals (HLA) and Investment Grade Proposals (IGP) Conduct site surveys, energy audits, feasibility studies, and techno-economic analysis Develop engineering scopes, layouts, equipment sizing, risk assessments, and timelines Create and review technical reports, proposals, and commercial models Liaise with internal teams, clients, technical specialists, and subcontractors Mentor junior engineers and support team development Drive innovation and identify new technologies to enhance project delivery What You’ll Bring: 2:1 Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (Not essential if you have hands on exp) Chartered Engineer (or working towards) Experience in energy, renewables, or decarbonisation Strong understanding of energy efficiency and renewable systems Skilled in project scoping, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI Experience with public sector tender frameworks (ReFiT, LHC, SNDEE, etc.) is a bonus Why Join Us?
