About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Children's Homes Assistant Manager to work within our expanding Children's Residential at Lancashire County Council. At Lancashire County Council, we believe that every child deserves more than just a place to stay – they deserve a loving home filled with compassion, understanding, and endless possibilities. If you’re a passionate and dedicated individual with a heart for children’s well‑being, we want to welcome you to our growing family!

What We Are Looking For…

Passion – You’ll be passionate about young people and the difference you can make to their lives and outcomes for the future. You’ll be dynamic and inspirational, with ethics, values and integrity at the heart of what you do. Your enthusiasm and dedication will create a positive and enriching experience for the amazing children in our care, and a strength‑based, positive culture for our workforce.

Creative & Innovative – For some posts the staff team will be brand‑new so you’ll shape and define the culture from the start, encouraging your team to think outside the box when supporting children who may have personal challenges. You’ll also find creative solutions to your own leadership challenges while working closely with social work teams, professionals from health, education, police, and the community.

Inspirational & Supportive Leadership – This is an emotionally difficult and challenging role, so you’ll be personally resilient and appreciate the impact of those challenges on your team. You’ll empower them regularly, providing additional support where required, and benefit from psychological support, regular supervision, reflective learning circles, and many training opportunities.

Benefits

There’s fabulous flexibility and the opportunity to create a work‑life balance you love – up to 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 2 additional days at Christmas and 20 additional days leave you can purchase. We also offer a generous local authority pension with shared contribution AVC’s, a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, retail, leisure and entertainment discounts, salary sacrifice for white goods, electronics, cars, bicycles and more.

Development

With an expanding service comes an expanding variety of opportunities. We offer 50+ free training courses, professional qualifications up to degree level as part of our apprenticeship scheme, supportive reflection and supervision, and the chance to carve out a defined career pathway. We provide multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, and an environment where you can make a difference and achieve job satisfaction.

Inclusivity

We don’t have a “one size fits all” idealism; we embrace diversity and offer a range of flexible working opportunities. We’re committed to a diverse and inclusive working environment for all team members. We especially welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and provide support groups and forums for anyone to join.

Application

We would love to hear from you – please contact us for an initial informal and confidential chat. Email Senior Manager Claire Rose Dudley at claire.dudley@lancashire.gov.uk.

Closing Date: 26 April

Interview Date: TBC

Please ensure you have uploaded and attached your supporting statement to evidence how you meet the criteria for the role. The panel may not shortlist you without this evidence.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a ‘disclosure’. Further information can be found on the ‘Our Recruitment Process’ tab.

We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.
