Sheridan Maine are looking for a commercially minded, hands-on qualified accountant to lead financial operations across budgeting, reporting, payroll, and team management in this 12-month FTC. This role combines strategic analysis with day-to-day financial control, making it ideal for someone with SME experience—ideally in multi-site hospitality—who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Responsibilities of the Head of Finance will include:
1. Commercial Analysis & Reporting
o Prepare and manage weekly group cashflow forecasts.
o Oversee budgeting and reforecasting models.
o Supervise a Junior Analyst and review weekly trading reports.
o Produce monthly board packs and conduct P&L analysis, including site profitability, sales mix, labour productivity, and gross margin analysis.
o Perform investment appraisals, capex ROI analysis, and market research.
o Conduct competitor and pricing benchmarking.
2. Financial Control
o Manage the Accounts Payable team and Payroll/Revenue Accounts Assistant.
o Support and review monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
o Process monthly payroll using Fourth and manage pension submissions via NEST.
o Prepare and submit P32s, P11Ds, PSAs, VAT returns, and Beer Duty reports.
o Liaise with HMRC, banking partners, and external capital allowance providers.
o Act as the main point of contact for audits and corporation tax, ensuring compliance with financial controls.
o Support ad hoc financial and commercial projects.
Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
* Fully qualified accountant.
* Proven experience in managing small finance teams.
* Hands-on experience in SME financial operations.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to consider broader commercial implications.
* Experience in a multi-site hospitality environment.
This is a hybrid role based in central London, requiring you to be in the office 4 days a week.
