An iconic public sector organisation is currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to join Adult Social Care (ASC) in a new pilot role for an initial 6 month contract.
Based in central London, they will offer hybrid working with 3 days on site per week.
The contract will be offered on an hourly rate for £ £44.59 umbrella (or £ £34.03 PAYE)
This is an exciting opportunity to lead financial operations within the service and deliver a key improvement project.
You will oversee core ASC finance responsibilities, including
Direct Payments (DP), Financial Assessments, Client Financial Management, Care Purchasing
, and ensure robust financial processes such as invoicing, debtors, forecasting, budget coding, and PO management.
In addition to managing the ASC Finance Officer and ASC DP Officer, you will drive the first phase of this pilot project by producing an
options paper and business case by July 2026
, mapping current processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day ASC finance operations and supervise DP and Finance Officers.
* Oversee incoming workflow and ensure timely outputs across the finance service area.
* Attend and contribute to key meetings (Debt, Panel, Team, DP, and management).
* Ensure compliance with Deputy standards and sign off OPG returns.
* Review and map current ASC finance functions, roles, and processes.
* Work with stakeholders to identify requirements for change and improvement.
* Produce an options paper/business case outlining risks and mitigation strategies.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
* Previous experience in ASC finance functions: Direct Payments, Appointeeship, Deputyship, Client Financial Management, Financial Assessments, Care Purchasing.
* Proven track record in process and business improvement, ideally within Adult Social Care.
* Strong communication skills with ability to present data to varied audiences.
* High proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
Desired:
* CCAB qualified
* Project management experience (Prince2/Agile).
