About Learn2Live (L2L)
Learn2Live Youth Club is now in its 8th year, supporting young sanctuary seekers as they live safely in the UK. Every Friday evening, L2L runs a youth club in Northampton where young people can meet, enjoy a hot meal, and connect with opportunities in the community such as sports, arts, and education. The project is volunteer-led and focuses on helping displaced young people feel safe, supported, and included.
Role Overview
The Youth Outreach Officer will oversee the L2L Youth Club, making sure it is safe, welcoming, and enriching. The role involves coordinating volunteers, building community partnerships, and ensuring the club continues to meet the needs of our young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Youth Engagement – Lead the Friday youth club, support young people individually, and plan activities that encourage social, cultural, and skill development.
* Community Outreach – Build links with schools, local groups, sports clubs, universities, and other partners to connect young people with wider opportunities.
* Volunteer Support – Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring they feel prepared and valued.
* Program Development – Gather feedback, evaluate impact, and improve the program to meet changing needs.
* Logistics & Admin – Organise activities, meals, attendance records, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
* Fundraising – Assist with grant applications and donor outreach to help sustain and grow the project.
* Safeguarding – Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants, following safeguarding procedures at all times.
Skills & Experience
* Experience working with young people (experience with refugee/migrant communities is desirable).
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work well with volunteers, young people, and partner organisations.
* Knowledge of sanctuary seeking system and local support services is desirable.
* Fundraising or grant-writing experience is an advantage.
* A relevant qualification in youth work, social/community work, or a related field is desirable.
* Speaking another language is an asset.
Role Details
* Hours: 10 hours per week (mainly evenings, especially Fridays).
* Location: Northampton, with some local travel.
* Pay: £13.00 per hour.
