Overview
You\'ll make a genuine difference to our young people on a daily basis, ensuring minimum interruption to their lives and packing their days full of meaningful interaction that others may take for granted. Your day involves making sure they are up and ready for the day, whether that means ready for school or ready for a morning at the park. You will help ensure the service feels like home by tasks such as running the hoover, helping with homework, or preparing dinner. Evenings and weekends are usually for fun, whether that\'s playing videogames, a board game, or a trip to see a movie. Yes, there is paperwork and planning, but supporting our young people is never boring. The days may be long, but time flies and the work really matters.
Cambian are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of all children within our care. All applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and must be able to provide at least two references covering the past two years. Applicants must also provide reference information for all positions related to working with children and the vulnerable, and details of employment going back to full-time education.
Responsibilities
From the moment you open the door and enter one of our services you become something more than you were. You enter the place our young people call home, a place where a grin can make a young person\'s day, where listening can not only save but shape a life, and where simply turning up on time and being present has a bigger impact than it does anywhere else. Walking through the door at Cambian means having a direct impact on the futures of the young people in our care. At one of our sites, asking "how school was" is more than a throwaway question; it\'s stability, paying genuine interest, and listening to the response. It\'s a way to break barriers, unlock confidence, and demonstrate you are here and this is a safe place. Our Residential Care Workers are fundamental to the development of the young people in our homes. There will be challenges, but every forward step is a cause for celebration and a simple "well done" goes a long way too. Our homes accommodate young people aged 8–18 from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of social/emotional/mental health needs. Our aim is to create the best possible outcomes to help each young person reach their full potential.
Requirements
