Second Step Second Step is the lead agency, in a partnership of organisations, chosen by Bristol City Council, to deliver the MHCLG Changing Futures programme in Bristol to support people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including discrimination, homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, and contact with the criminal justice system.
Changing Futures is a resource for Bristol. Our aim is to create sustainable change at individual, service & system levels and influence government policy & local commissioning.
In line with Bristol’s Multiple Disadvantage Strategy, this role will be integral to embedding My Team Around Me across Bristol as the way of supporting those most in need of coordinated multi-agency support.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and innovative senior psychologist to join our system change team at Changing Futures Bristol.
The role will work collaboratively with the team manager to develop and support a specialist team providing system partners with the expertise to respond to identified clients using the My Team Around Me (MTAM) approach. They will have considerable experience of inspiring innovation, building skills and confidence and ensuring that support is delivered through the lenses of trauma informed principles, equality diversity and inclusion and coproduction, through the provision of clinical supervision, reflective practice, formulation, coaching and training.
The successful applicant will support the identification of system change opportunities ensuring that learning generated is continually used to inform structural and systemic changes through the local human learning system the MTAM Exchange and specific targeted opportunities.
They will contribute to the overall aims and outcomes of the Changing Futures programme and informing policy change at a national as well as local level.
The role will be integrated within the Changing Futures Team and the Second Step Psychology Team.

The successful candidate will have a deep appreciation for the intersecting needs of people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage and the differing needs of staff across the domains of multiple disadvantage. They will have a passion for supporting systemic change for those experiencing cyclical and retraumatising interactions with systems and services unable to meet their needs as a whole person.
They will be expert at creating supportive, learning cultures where individuals feel empowered to address structural inequalities and will relish the opportunity to contribute to local and national policy change.
