Immediate Start | Long-Term Role | Secondary Specialist Setting

Do you have a calm, resilient nature and a desire to help young people thrive?

A secondary alternative provision in Tameside is looking for a confident and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH). This is a full-time, long-term opportunity ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in a specialist setting.


The Role:

Support students in a classroom or one-to-one setting, helping manage behaviour and encourage positive choices

Work with pupils who may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement

Act as a role model, developing trusting and consistent relationships

Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies

Contribute to a positive and restorative school culture


The Ideal Candidate:

Has experience working with young people in challenging circumstances (e.g. youth work, sports coaching, care, or PRU settings)

Can stay calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques effectively

Shows emotional intelligence, commitment and a trauma-informed approach

Is ready to start immediately and commit to the full academic term (or longer)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
